IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Perry
Mickelson
November 11, 1965 – November 2, 2022
Memorial services for Perry Michael Mickelson, 56 of Mound City, SD will be held on Saturday, November 12, 2022 at 10:30 am at the Mound City Community Center with Jaimie Odde officiating. After a long hard 2-year battle with Pancreatic Cancer, Perry Mickelson, age 56, died on November 2 nd , 2022 at Sanford Medical Center in Bismarck, ND with his wife and daughter by his side. Arrangements are entrusted to Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge.
Perry was born on November 11 th , 1965 in Sioux Falls, SD. He was adopted by his parents Martin & Beatrice Mickelson. Perry grew up on the family farm, 7 miles west of Highway 83/Hwy 10 and went to school K-12 in Pollock, SD.
Perry met the love of his life, Lona Harty, October 2 nd 1984 while attending Northern State College. They wed June 8 th 1985, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Aberdeen, SD. Shortly after marriage Perry joined The United States Army in May of 1986. They traveled the world together with their children for 11.5 years before settling down in Washington State, and starting a 17-year career with Comcast Cable Company out of Tacoma, WA. Where he was loved by many, co-workers turned family.
Perry's passion was giving, he loved to make people laugh and that smile of his was contagious and could light up any room. When the chance came to move back home 8 years ago (South Dakota) the whole family was onboard. Perry and his family relocated to Mound City, SD. After the sale of the Steakhouse in February, 2020 he was finally able to enjoy life, even after being diagnosed with Pancreatic cancer in October, 2020. Keeping himself constantly busy with mowing lawns for the Town of Mound City, helping out with the Mound City Fire Department and working at Fresh Start Market with all of his friends, that again, turned family. He remained dedicated to his work and his will to fight cancer up until the very end, nothing was going to stop him.
Perry is survived by his wife of 37 years, Lona Mickelson; his daughter and son-in-law Cassie & Bryan Stokes, Mound City SD; his son Kyle Mickelson, Pollock SD; and his adored and very loved grandchildren, Leehvi, Karsin & Scarlett Stokes as well as his brother and sister-in-law, Gilbert and Cathy Mickelson of Herreid, SD and his Nieces and Nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, his infant son and his many rescued cats, that he adored.
Perry has requested to be cremated with no viewing; his ashes will be spread by family at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please send memorial to the Mound City Fire Department.
We'd like to thank the entire Campbell County Community for the upmost love and support for Perry over the last few years. Cathy Mickelson, for being "Her" Day or Night, with open arms. Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. Sanford Medical Center as well as Sanford Hospice in Bismarck, ND. Perry and his family received the best possible care in their hands.
