Peggy passed away Wednesday, May 20, 2026, at the Walworth County Care Center in Selby.

Peggy was born on March 22, 1940, in Gopher, South Dakota, the eighth of nine children born to Walter and Bernice Chase. She graduated from Isabel High School in 1958 and attended Northern State College for two years. On June 1, 1960, she married Leroy Warner, and together they raised two children. Leroy preceded her in death in 1996.

Peggy worked at several places during her life, but the most memorable chapter was when she and Leroy, along with Jerry and Carmen Chase, managed the Isabel Bar and Café. Her warm personality and love of people made the café a true community gathering place.

On January 15, 2004, Peggy married Don Waddell, gaining four stepchildren.

Family was the center of Peggy’s life. She cherished her role as aunt, grandmother, and step-grandmother. She especially loved playing games with her grandchildren and step-grandchildren and spent countless joyful hours doing so.

She is survived by her husband, Don Waddell; her son, Craig Warner and daughter-in-law Mary Warner; her daughter, Lynn Warner; and five grandchildren: Ashton Warner, Chase Warner, Samantha Hirschey, Evan Warner, and Traci Bilben and three great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her stepchildren: Arnie Waddell, Brenda Iwan, Carstin Jerzak, and Darilee Waddell Romey; and many step-grandchildren: Nickolas Waddell, Morgan Iwan, Tanner Iwan, Casey Alan, Kyle Alan, Tom Jerzak, Brad Jerzak, Adam Jerzak, Michael Jerzak, Carlee Waddell, Kaden Romey, and Ciara Romey. She is further survived by nine step-great-grandchildren.

She is also survived by her brothers Wayne Chase and Jerry Chase, her sister Gladys Knodel, and sisters-in-law Else Chase, Sofia Chase, and Carmen Chase.

Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Bernice Chase; her first husband, Leroy Warner; two brothers, Jack Chase and Bob Chase; three sisters, Janet Linde, Betty Yuly, and Carol Fuhrer; and brothers-in-law Bob Linde, Lloyd Ley, Ervin Knodel, and Frank Fuhrer. She was also preceded in death by her sister-in-law Inez Lone Bear.

In addition to her immediate family, Peggy was deeply loved by her many nieces, nephews, and the entire community. She will be dearly missed.
