Funeral services for Pearl Ackerman, age 79, of Mobridge will be at 11 AM, Thursday, January 12, 2012 at the First Baptist Church in Mobridge. Burial will be at 11 AM MT, Friday at the Black Hills National Cemetery under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. Visitation will start at 2 PM Wednesday with a prayer service at 7 PM at the funeral home. Pearl passed away Sunday, January 8, 2012 at the Mobridge Regional Hospital.
Pearl Wilma Schott was born on April 18, 1932 to Fred and Emma (Holzworth) Schott in Campbell County. She grew up on the family farm and attended Garfield Country School. She married Alvin Ackerman on January 17, 1950 in Selby. They made their home on a farm north of Java in Campbell County. In 1964 they moved to Mobridge where Pearl worked at Ben Franklin for a number of years. She also worked at Anthony's clothing store for a time. In 1980 they moved to Lemmon where she worked at the Grocery Store and the Dime Store until her health forced her retirement. In 1987 they moved back to Mobridge where they have since resided. Pearl enjoyed working and visiting with people. She also enjoyed walking and her animals. She was a member of the First Baptist Church.
Pearl is survived by her husband of 61 years, Alvin Ackerman of Mobridge, two sons, Arnold Ackerman of Mobridge and Monte (Michele) Ackerman of Mobridge, two grandsons, Matthew Ackerman and Marcus Ackerman of Mobridge, and one sister, Betty (Jim) Kramer of Rapid City.
She is preceded in death by her parents and an infant son.
