Funeral services for Patience Three Legs, 39, of Eagle Butte will be at 10 AM, Thursday, September 12, 2024, at the Eagle Butte Bingo Hall. Burial will be at the Green Grass Cemetery under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. A procession will meet at the 4 mile junction at 4 PM to go to the Bingo Hall for a 7 PM prayer service. Patience passed away Thursday, August 29, 2024 at Monument Health in Rapid City.

Known as "Trista," she was always smiling, joking and making others laugh. She was a loving wife and mother. Her favorite band was "Aerosmith," which she danced to all the time, and she  loved animals and the color purple. She went out of her way to help others. She worked at Taco John's for 12 years before becoming a stay-at-home mother, and returned there recently.

Her generosity continued after her death. She had decided to become an organ donor, and gave the gift of life to four other people. For this she received an Honor Walk of physicians and staff at Monument Health in Rapid City, and a flag with her name on it was flown for three days.

She is survived by her husband Trevor Three Legs of Eagle Butte; mother Mary Thin Elk of Rapid City; daughter Precious Bald Eagle and son Landyn Titus of Swift Bird; siblings Raymond Thin Elk, Jesse Janis, Florentine Black Spotted, Theodora Thin Elk; and aunties and uncles Vanessa Janis and Family, Julie Thin Elk, George Thin Elk and Bennett Belt.

She was preceded in death by her father Cornelius Janis of Eagle Butte, South Dakota
