Funeral services for Orville W. Ackerman, 90, of Mound City will be at 11 AM, Saturday, February 1, 2020 at the Herreid Baptist Church. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. Visitation will be at 6 PM with a prayer service at 7 PM Friday at the church. Orville passed away Friday, January 24, 2020, at his home.

Orville Willis Ackerman was born September 5, 1929 in Campbell County, Mound City, SD, to Jacob and Bertha (Klingman) Ackerman. He served in the U.S. Marines from September 21, 1951 to September 22, 1953 in the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the American Legion in Eureka, SD and was a lifelong member of the Herreid Baptist Church. He married Alvina Heiser on October 2, 1955. They were lifetime farmers, raising grain, cattle, and dairying.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Alvina of Mound City, his children, Karen Bower of Draper, SD, Shelly (Dale) Winterberg of Selby SD, Kevin (Vicki) Ackerman of Lisbon, ND, and Scott (Dawn) Ackerman of Watertown, SD, one sister, Evangeline (Hugh) Johnson, Pamona, CA, six grandchildren, Jeff and Mark Lebeda, Lori Winterberg, Jacob and John Ackerman and Jay Ackerman, three step grandchildren, Sandra Baker, Gloria Kummer and Heath Bower, seven great-grandchildren, eight step great-grandchildren, and thirteen step great-great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by his parents, Jacob and Bertha Ackerman, brother and sister-in-law, Alvin and Pearl, son-in-law, Lloyd Bower and grandson, Shawn Lebeda.
