Funeral services for Myron Oka, age 56 of Sioux Falls will be at 11 AM CT, Saturday, April 21, 2012 at the Wakpala Community Center. Burial will be at St. Elizabeth's Episcopal Church Cemetery under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. An all night wake will start at 7 PM, Friday at the community center. Myron passed away, Thursday, April 12, 2012 at Sanford Medical Center in Sioux Falls, SD.

Myron B. Oka was born to Bernard "Bert" and Amanda (Little Moon) Oka at Wakpala, South Dakota. Myron had attended Wakpala School all the way through his high school years. In 1977 he married Alvena Ducheneaux and out of their marriage they had three children. In 1972 he met Colleen (Mells) Buckley and out of that relationship they had a daughter together, Shelly (Mells) Sitting Dog. Myron had one nephew son, Lyle Oka and he raised him as his own.

From 1979-1980 Myron was employed at Chief Gall Inn with his father Bert Oka, they both were security officers. In 1982 to 1983 he attended college at UTTC in Bismarck, ND and graduated with a degree in Police Science. After graduating from UTTC he became worked for the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe Police Department in Eagle Butte, SD.

Myron loved his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren very much. He was a very, very kind man, loving, giving, and funny. Myron loved to laugh and always had a big heart to help those that needed help. In his earlier and healthier years Myron enjoyed playing guitar, basketball, and being part of sun dances, as well as singing at them too.

Myron has resided in Sioux Falls, SD since November 2008 and had a very special lady in his life Theda "TJ" Hernandez. And due to his illness he spent the rest of his days with all of his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren. He'll be greatly and deeply missed very much.

Myron is survived by three daughters Katrina Oka (Randell Primeaux) of Sioux Falls, SD, April (Dell) Archambault of Sioux Falls, and Shelly (Robert) Sitting Dog, Sr. of McLaughlin, son Brandon Ducheneaux of Sioux Falls, brother Bernell Oka of Wakpala, sister Bernadine Oka of Fargo, ND, special aunts Elsie Uses Many and Lavina Three Legs both of Wakpala, adopted mother Charlotte (DeMarrias) Singert of Sioux Falls, and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his parents Bernard "Bert" and Amanda (Little Moon) Oka, brothers Verdell Oka, Ronnie Oka, Glen Oka, Jerris Braveheart, sisters Glennis Oka and Marlys Oka, one grandson DelQuain Archambault, one niece Vicki Oka, one nephew Travis Oka, and grandfather Andrew Little Moon.
