Mass of Christian Burial for Milo Cadotte, age 67, of Wakpala will be 11:00 AM CT Saturday, September 7, 2013 at St. Bede's Catholic Church. Burial will be in St. Bede's Catholic Cemetery under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home. All night wake will began at 5PM on Friday at the Wakpala Gym with a Rosary at 7PM. Milo passed away Saturday, August 31, 2013 at the Golden Living Center in Mobridge.
Milo was born October 14, 1945 in rural Corson County to Raymond and Melda (Demery) Cadotte. He attended St. Joseph's Indian School thru the 6th grade, and attended Wakpala High School graduating in 1965.
Milo joined the United States Army Nov. 23, 1965 and went to Ft. Bragg, NC for Paratrooper training. He was stationed with the 101st Airborne in Vietnam from 1966-1967 and then was stationed with the 82nd Airborne in Vietnam in 1968. Milo was a lifetime member of the 101st Airborne Division Association, Veteran of Foreign Wars, and American Legion.
Milo held many political offices in his life, Wakpala Local District Council, Chairman, Vice-Chairman, Secretary from 1976-2001, Chairman of the Wakpala School Board 1980-2001, Election Commission Chairman in 1984, Secretary of Standing Rock Housing Board in 1985, and Secretary of the Gaming Commission, 1993-1996.
He married Patricia Hall on October 22, 1980 at McLaughlin, SD.
Milo worked for Standing Rock Farms, Wakpala/Little Eagle 3 Phase Power, McIntosh Road Department, McLaughlin/McIntosh Right-of-Way, Wakpala/Kenel Right-of-Way, Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe, JTAC, S.R.S.T. Eagle Unit, New Wakpala School and Campground attendant at the Bay. Milo played in many different country bands for over 20 years as a drummer.
Milo is survived by his wife Patricia Cadotte, Wakpala, daughter's; Crystal Makes Him First, Wakpala, Samantha Turcotte, Riverton, WY, Amanda Cadotte of Wakpala, son's; Melvin Cadotte, Sioux Falls, Winston Cadotte, Rapid City, grandchildren Brandon, Miles, Draven, Samuel, Cassandra, Heather, Angel, great-grandchildren; Brayden, Carter, Kiley, Brody, his brother's Charles Cadotte, Sr. of Everett, WA, Raymond Cadotte, Jr., Albert Cadotte, Nick Cadotte, adopted brother Anthony Stricker all of Wakpala, Harlon Cadotte, Sr. of Rapid City, seven sister's Sylvia Bryant of Sturgis, Victoria Roberts of Yakima, WA, Mary Jan Campbelle of Renton, WA, Amelia Brewer of Rapid City, Stella Bellanger of Albuquerque, NM, Cheryl Cadotte, of Aberdeen, Valerie Coon, Mobridge, son-in-law Rex Makes Him first, sister-in-law, Anie Hall-Walker, Promise, 2 companions; Cosmo and Truffles (runt). Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Milo was preceded in death by his parents; Raymond Cadotte, Sr. and Melda Cadotte and one sister Kathryn in infancy, one son Brandon Edward Cadotte.
