Obituary

Funeral services for Milford Eugene Slader are 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 18, 2015, at St. Peter's Episcopal Church of Thunder Butte, SD. Burial will take place at St. Peter's Episcopal Cemetery under the direction of the Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge, SD. A prayer service will be held at 7:00 p.m., Monday, August 17, 2015, at St. John's Episcopal Church of Eagle Butte, SD. Processional will meet at 5:00 p.m. at the 4-mile junction.

Milford Eugene Slader was born in Thunder Butte, SD to Owen and Elsie (Clown) Slides Off on 10 September 1949.

He attended grade school at Thunder Butte Day School and attended school in Dupree and Eagle Butte, SD.

He enlisted in the U.S. Army on 11 April 1969 and served during the Vietnam era. He served honorably until a back injury ended his enlisted career and was honorably discharged on 11 April 1970.

After returning home from his military service Milford worked with his folks, assisting them with their ranching business in Thunder Butte, SD. He married Eleanor Red Horse and to this union two children were born Bradford and Tracy. He also married Eileen Different Horse and to this union one son, Jared Slader was born.

He is survived by his wife, Tomi Slader; his children, Jared (Kasee) Slader, and grandchildren; Jhet'Taun Curley, Jaryn Curley and Wambli Eagle Chasing, brother; Jack Slides Off, sisters; Marie (Chris) Brave Heart, Adrienne (Ivan) Bruguier, and Ione (Paul) Betone Sr., his nieces and nephews, Marisol Slides Off, Zachary Slides Off, Tracy Slides Off, Sherlynn Herrera, Murphy Herrera, Denise Casillas, Lee Michael (Kim) Bruguier, Raine M Betone, Conway (Melissa) Betone, Paul Betone Jr., Fabian Betone, Jeffrey Betone, Erik Betone, Erin Slides Off, Pamela Skinner, Davia Skinner, Rae Jean Slides Off, Wilford Skinner III, Jerome Slides Off, Lowell Slides Off, Randy Slides Off and Myron Slides Off, and the Blacksmith Tiospaye of Oglala, SD and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and friends.

He is preceded in death by his great-grandparents Amos (Julia Iron Cedar) Clown, grandparents Joseph (Emily Did Not Go Home) Clown and Eugene (Bessie Elk Head) Slides Off, parents Owen and Elsie (Clown) Slides Off, two infant babies, brothers: Herman Slides Off Sr., Donald Slides Off and Sidney Slides Off, sisters: Delma Slides Off and Julienne Skinner nieces: Delma Bruguier, Evelyn Slides Off, Rita Slides Off, Brittany Skinner, nephews: Emery Slides Off and Herman Slides Off Jr.
