Funeral services for Mildred Strongheart, 81, of Wakpala will be at 10 AM, CT, Saturday, December 14, 2024, at the Wakpala School Gym. Burial will be at the Strongheart Ranch Cemetery under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. Mildred passed away Friday, November 29, 2024, at the Pierre Avantara Nursing Home.

Mildred was born April 1, 1943, she met Joe Strongheart in Arizona and they were married on June 2, 1972 in Pierre, South Dakota. They made their home on the Strongheart Ranch. A few years later they renewed their vows at St. Bede's in Wakpala, South Dakota. Mildred worked in government for many years, and for the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe Enrollment Office.

Mildred is survived by, son, Joseph Strongheart, Jr., of Wakpala, daughters, Jolene Strongheart of Bismarck, North Dakota and Renita Freeman of Arizona and sister-in-law, Edith Smooth of Parker, Arizona.

Mildred is preceded in death by her parent's, two sisters and one son.
