Funeral services for Mick Sather, 84, of Mobridge will be at 11 AM, Friday, January 17, 2020, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Mobridge. Inurnment will be at Black Hills National Cemetery. Visitation will start at 5 PM with a prayer service at 6 PM Thursday at Kesling Funeral Home. Mick passed away Sunday, January 12, 2020, at the Bowdle Nursing Home. Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers the family request memorials be directed to Trinity Lutheran Church window fund or a charity of your choice.

Erling (Mick) Sather passed away on January 12, 2020 at the Bowdle Care Center. He was born January 15, 1935 to Carl and Bernice (Garden) Sather on a farm in Keene Township, Clay County Minnesota. He grew up and attended country school and Ulen High School.

Mick entered the US Navy on October 6, 1952 and was honorably discharged August 4, 1954. He married Beatrice (Bea) Syverson on December 27, 1952 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Twin Valley, Minnesota. In early 1953 Mick and Bea moved to Norman, Oklahoma where he finished his basic training at Tinker Field AFB and was stationed in Corpus Christi, Texas until the end of the Korean War in 1954. After his discharge they relocated to Minnesota where they farmed for two years on his grandfather's farm. In 1957, Mick became employed at Armour's Meat Packing plant in Fargo, North Dakota. In 1959 Mick went to Greenland and worked for a construction company building ballistic missile early warning systems for eight months. In 1960 Mick and his family moved to Rapid City, South Dakota where he worked for Forseth Construction Company until 1967 when they moved to Mobridge, South Dakota. Mick went to work for Willis Sackreiter selling Butler Steel Buildings. A few years later, he took a job with Zip Feed Company and continued to work for this company until he retired in 1997. A short time later, Mick was asked to work part time for Dakotaland Feeds which he enjoyed working until he retired in 2017.

Mick enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. He and Bea enjoyed their time spent in South Padre visiting with new friends they met. They also enjoyed traveling to Norway a couple of times with Mick's brother Al and his wife Genelle. Mick was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church, the Mobridge Moose Lodge, the American Legion and was a board member of the Klein Museum.

Grateful for having shared his life is his wife of 67 years, Bea of Mobridge. He is also survived by his children; Deb Meints, Rapid City; Val (Bill) Vankley, New Evarts; Deino (Therese) Sather, Elkhorn, NE and Lisa (Rick) Long, Huron. Grandchildren; Jeff (Kristie) Thorstenson; Christopher (Amber) Brandner; Justin (Julie) Thorstenson; Jason (Jamie) Thorstenson; Josh (Mindy) Guthmiller; Amanda (Matt) Guthmiller; Andrea (Mickey) Larson; Matt (Lyndsey) Sather; Nicole (Andy) O'Neill; and Logan Vankley. Also survived by step grandchildren; Brandon (Wendy) Long; Jordan (Bridget) Long, Lisa (Jim) Miller and 21 great grandchildren. His siblings; Al (Genelle) Sather, Connie Nokken, and Ron Sather, sister in law; Lavonne (Vince) Babler. Also many nieces and nephews. He also left behind many good friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Carlton, sisters, Marilyn and Sylvia and son in law, Donnie Meints.
