Funeral service for Michael Kjellsen age 54 of Timber Lake, SD will be at 10:30 AM, Saturday, August 10, 2019 at the United Parish Church in Timber Lake. Interment will be in the Timber Lake Cemetery under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services. Michael passed away, Monday, August 5, 2019 at his home in Timber Lake.

Mike was born April 19, 1965 in Mobridge SD. He was baptized at First Baptist Church in Timber Lake, SD January 1,1980, and graduated from Timber Lake High School in 1983.

After graduation, he worked at Lynn's County Market in Sturgis, SD for 13 Years, then transferred to Lynn's Dakota Mart in Pierre. He moved back to Timber Lake and worked various jobs here.

In 2017 Mike was diagnosed with stage 4 oral cancer, and passed away from complications August 5, 2019.

Mike enjoyed music and could name any song and the artist. He enjoyed sports, and from a very early age could name all the players on every team. He could answer just about any trivia question and rarely missed a Jeopardy question. Mike loved to cook and was an excellent and inventive chef. He loved watching educational programs on TV.

He is survived by his mother, Patricia Kjellsen, one brother Ed (Little Eddie) Gunderson, two step sisters Cheryl Kjellsen and Valerie Poland, and numerous aunts and uncles.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, adoptive father Lloyd Kjellsen, and birth father Edward Gunderson.
