Funeral services for Merle "Snoopy" Red Bear, 48, of Bismarck will be at 1 PM Thursday, May 11, 2023, at the Cannonball Red Gym. Burial will be in the Congregational Cemetery under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. Visitation will be from 10 AM-1PM Thursday. Snoopy passed away Tuesday, May 2, 2023, in Bismarck.

Merle "Snoopy" Ernest Red Bear was born to Ernest Red Bear and Shirley Snow on January 14, 1975 in Ft. Yates, North Dakota. Merle graduated from Elgin Public School in 1994. He participated in basketball, football, track, and cross country. Merle was known to have loved long-distance running and always kept busy in sports. Merle took pride in dressing up, known for never being the one to be dressed down. He was a good friend to many and could always be counted on to lend a helping hand; he was never one to say no. He helped where and when he could with what he had. Although he was know for dressing up in his youth, as he got older, he enjoyed the simple things in life; always saying he was a simple man. His contagious smile and laugh will be missed by many.

Merle is survived by his sisters; Wanda Stretches, Tammy Two Hearts, Roychelle Morsette, Carol Bendickson, Rhonda Two Hearts and Skylar (Kipp) Morrison, brothers; Perry (Maureen) Halsey, Terry (Frances) Halsey, Daniel (Almanda) Morsette, adopted brother; Maynard See Walker, Uncles, Wilfred Snow, Jonathan Stretches, Roy Morsette, grandma; Antoinette Plante, grandpa; Gabe Plante and special friend; Tammi Morey.

Preceding Merle in death are his parents; Ernest Red Bear and Shirley Snow, grandparents; Josephine Running Bear. Aunties; Keva Snow, Caroline Stretches Halsey, Alfreda Stretches, Iola Stretches Two Hearts, Maryann Stretches Morsette, uncles; Rudolph Stretches, Conrad Stretches, Delano Stretches, Maynard Snow and Donavon Stretches.
