Mass of Christian Burial for Melvin Mindt, age 73, of Mobridge will be at 10 AM, Monday, April 12, 2010 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Mobridge. Inurnment will be at the Glenham Cemetery under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. A Rosary and Scriptural Wake Service will be Sunday night at 7:30 PM with memorial visitation starting at 6PM at the church. Melvin went to be with his Lord on Sunday, April 4, 2010 at his home in Mobridge.

Melvin John Mindt was born on August 22, 1936 to Walter and Martha (Lehnert) Mindt in Mobridge. Melvin attended school in Glenham. Following school he joined the US National Guard in 1954. He was Honorably Discharged in 1960. Melvin traveled around the country working construction before starting working for the railroad. He eventually had to retire from the railroad due to health reasons.

Melvin loved cooking for everyone, especially his homemade chicken soup and bean soup. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He also made wine and shared it with everyone he knew. He enjoyed spoiling his nieces and nephews whenever possible. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Mobridge Moose Club for many years.

Melvin is survived by nine brothers and sisters, Walter (Barb) Mindt Jr. of Mesa, AZ, Gerald (Judy) Mindt of Milwaukee, WI, Robert Mindt of Grafton, WI, Ed Mindt of Fon Du Lac, WI, Mary (Al) Reiss of Port Washington, WI, JoAnn (Ralph) Reiss of Fon Du Lac, WI, Jeanne (Jim) Paegelow of Jackson, WI and Barbara (Gary) Fiedler of Glenham, SD, two sister-in-laws, Rose Marie Mindt of Southlake, TX and Juanita Mindt of Selby, numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, James and Arnold Mindt, one sister-in-law, Donna and a niece, Kathryn.
