Funeral services for May Torevell, 91, of Timber Lake will be at 10 AM, MT, Friday, November 10, 2017 at the United Parish in Timber Lake. Burial will be in the Timber Lake Cemetery under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. Visitation will start at 5 PM with a prayer service at 7 Pm Thursday at the church. May passed away Friday, November 3, 2017 at the Mobridge Regional Hospital.

May Hattie Torevell was born on May 31, 1926, in Aberdeen to Herman and Hattie (Storm) Richter. She grew up in Frederick, SD, until 1937, when May moved with her family to Timber Lake. She attended Chapel Country School. Following her schooling she helped on the family farm any way she could including helping bring in the cows and hauling hay.

On March 22, 1953, she married Glenn W. Torevell. They lived in Lead, SD for a short time before moving back to work with Glenn's parents on the ranch. During this time, they had two daughters Patsy Ann and Nancy June and in 1983 they moved into Timber Lake. May worked at the Post Office and did house cleaning. She also loved working in her yard and making and selling crafts for others. While living in Timber Lake May was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. After Glenn's passing May lived in Timber Lake for a short time before moving to Mobridge to be with her daughter, Patsy.

May is survived by her daughters; Patsy (Jon B.) Bender of Mobridge, Nancy Hoveland of Olalla, WA, four grandchildren, Stacey, Eric, Mellissa, Lisa, five great-granddaughters, Rebekah, Alexandria, Teagon, Tyleigh, Kanomai, sister, Mary (Gordon) Chalmers, sister-in-law, Lillian Torevell of Mobridge, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Glenn in 2011, brothers, Ralph Richter and Fred Richter.
