Obituary

Mass of Christian Burial for Maxine Harrison, age 75, of Ft. Yates, ND will be at 1 PM CT, on Wednesday, February 17, 2010 at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Ft. Yates. Inurnment will be in the church cemetery under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. Visitation will be for one hour prior to services. Maxine passed away Friday, February 12, 2010 at St. Alexius Hospital in Bismarck.



Maxine L. Lachapelle was born on March 12, 1934 to Phillip and Mabel (Bebeau) Lachapelle in White Earth, MN. She grew up in White Earth, MN before moving to Ft. Yates, ND to live with her sister, Alice. While living in Ft. Yates she met James Harrison Sr. They were married on May 22, 1950 in Miles City, MT. They made their home and raised there family in Ft. Yates where she has since resided.



Maxine worked at the St. Bernard Mission School in Ft. Yates for 37 years as a cook. She was also a farm wife helping James with many different things that needed to be done on the farm.



She enjoyed croqueting, baking, embroidery, canning and knitting. James and her had a garden every year that she took pride in taking care of.



Maxine is survived by four sons, Roger Harrison of Fairview, MT, Ronald Harrison of Selfridge, James "Porky" Harrison Jr. of Ft. Yates, and Keith Harrison of Ft. Yates, two daughters, Karen Harrison of Bismarck and Kaye (Rory) VanWyk of Mandan, ND, many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren, one brother, Buzzy Lachapelle of Minnesota, three sisters, Alice Silk of Billings, MT, Joyce Lachapelle of Arizona, and Dede Lachapelle of Minnesota, four brothers-in-law, David Sr. "Dee" (Arlene), Joe (Della) and Henry G. (Annie) Harrison all of Ft. Yates and Ben (Luella) Harrison of Porcupine, ND, four sisters-in-law, Mary A. Poitra of Ft. Yates, ND, Henrietta Marvin of Ft. Yates, Beata (Dennis) Crotty of Pembina, ND and Emma Harrison of Spartanburg, SC.



She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, James E. in 2008, one son, Gerald in 1989, one grandson, Daniel Harrison, one sister, 1 brother, four brothers-in-law and one sister-in-law.



Casketbearers will be James Harrison Jr., Ronald Harrison, Roger Harrison, Rory VanWyk, Jeremiah Harrison, and Robin Claymore.



Honorary Bearers will be Dee Harrison, Joe Harrison, Henry Harrison, Ben Harrison, Denny Crotty, Keith Harrison, Kenny McLaughlin, James McLaughlin, Charles McLaughlin.
