Maxine passed way Monday, March 30, 2015, at her daughter's home in Bismarck.

Maxine V. White Bull as born August 1, 1935 to George Sleeps and Julia Yellow Fat at Kenel, SD. She was born and raised in "Old Kenel" and lived most of her life in Kenel. She lost her first husband Ted Marshall, SR. and her second husband, Albert White Bull Sr. whom she was married to for 40 years. Maxine has 11 children, 2 huka sons, numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Maxine graduated from Fort Yates High School in May 1953. She has contributed to her children and grandchildren's education by influencing them in her unique and stern ways of "so what are you going to do next", type of attitude, always looking toward their future goals. She has always pushed not only her own family members, onto education, but also those who listened to her advice.

Most of Maxine's children and grandchildren have continued their education and or/entered the military. Two children received master degrees, one child received a bachelor degree, two children received their associate degrees, others are working on their degrees, and four of her grandchildren are currently in college. Maxine has been surrounded by the military all her of her life. "When her brothers left for the armed services, she helped her father on the family ranch and was a advise horse rider!" Her father, three brothers and five of her children have all enlisted in the Armed Force Service. Her father was one of the first Lakota Cold Talkers during World War I. Maxine was a descendent of Mary Crawler "Moving Robe Woman" who fought at the Battle of the Little Big Horn after hearing her brother was killed during the battle.

For three year, she received training and worked for The Prudential Insurance Company in Chicago as a Bookkeeping machine Operator. Then she moved back to Standing Rock and worked for the BIA office as an Account Supervisor/Technician in the IIM Department for eight years. She then transferred to the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe as Bookkeeping/payroll Clerk/Contracting Officer for 11 years which she retired from in 1997.

Maxine also volunteered and served on the Standing Rock Sioux Reservation for most of her life. She served as the Kenel District Tribal Councilwoman form 1984-1988, served as a board member of the gaming Commission for six years, TERO Board for seven years, Standing Rock Housing Authority Board for four years, Elderly & Land Owners Board and the Parish Council.

She worked with and worked for many outstanding members and leaders of the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe along with other tribes throughout our nation. These experiences have made Maxine who she was today: a woman who surrounds herself by family, friends, and most of all faith.
If she could have received a degree in "BINGO" she would've received a Masters Degree. But more importantly Maxine was honored and humbled by receiving an Honorary Degree from Sitting Bull College.

She is survived by her children, Theodore "Warren" Marshall, Las Vegas, NV., Jolene (Tyrone) Cadotte, Wakpala, SD, Maureen (Troy) Marshall, Bismarck, ND, Jean (Jesse) Marshall, Rapid City, SD, Frank White Bull, Kenel, SD, Janet (Ray Molash) White Bull, of Kenel, SD, Randy White Bull of Kenel, SD, Brenda White Bull, of Burnsville, MN, Kimberly (Matt Red Bear) White Bull, Roseglen, ND, Suzanne (Dustin Marshall) White Bull, Kenel, SD, Chuck (Charity) Jacobs, Lawrence, KS, Brady (Sonja) Brown Otter, Bismarck, ND, Godchildren, Renae Talley, Keith Good Iron.
