Funeral services for Max Edward Romero, 49, of Eagle Butte, SD, will be Tuesday 2:00 PM (MT) at the Cherry Community Center. Burial will be in the St. Andrews Episcopal Cemetery under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. A all night wake will be held Monday starting at 5:00 PM (MT) at the Cherry Community Center. Max entered spirit world Wednesday, July 28th, 2010 at Rapid City Regional Hospital.
Max Edward Romero was born May 27, 1961 in Pine Ridge, SD to Delmas and Belva (Runs After) Romero Sr. He attended school at Wanblee Day School for a short while, when he moved back to Cherry Creek and attended school there. At the age of 17 Max enlisted in the U.S. Army from April 1980 to August 1982. During his course in the U.S. Army he was stationed at Ft. Sill, OK, Ft. Bliss, Ft. Hood, TX where he was honorably discharged.
Upon his return home he enrolled at United Tribes Technical College in Bismarck, ND, majoring in Criminal Justice. He remained home for a while, then went on to school at Sisseton - Wahpeton Community College in 1997, where he graduated in Masonry and Building Maintaince and Mechanics. He then became active with the B.I. A. Firefighters where he became a crew boss. They traveled around the country when ever they were called upon. Max was employed by the CRST Police Dept., Maintenance Aide, Census Bureau and the IHS.
Due to health problems, Max had his mom, sisters, aunt and cousin by side, as he entered the Spirit World to make his new journey.
Max will be greatly missed by all.
Max is survived by his mother, Belva Romero of Cherry Creek, special friend Monica Crow of Cherry Creek, his brothers, Justin Romero of Cherry Creek, Russell Romero of Eagle Butte, James Romero of Taos, NM, sisters, Marion Romero, Rose Romero, Mabel Hale, all of Cherry Creek, Tamara Romero of LaPlant, Susie Romero of Grand Island, NE.
Preceded in death by his father, Delmas Romero, Sr. brother, Delmas Romero, Jr., sister Florence Rose Romero, nephews, Ryder Romero, Roman Iron Bird, grandfather Only Runs After, grandmother Susie Romero, Uncle Robert Quiver, Sr.
