Funeral services for Margaret A. Underwood, 86, of Gettysburg, SD, will be 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 9, 2015, at the United Methodist Church of Gettysburg. Burial is in the Gettysburg Cemetery under the direction of the Kesling Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday. Margaret passed away Friday, June 5, 2015, at Oahe Manor in Gettysburg.

Margaret A. Willey was born on August 12, 1928, in Billings, MT, to Charles and Anna Rose (Sternhagen) Willey. In 1935 they returned to South Dakota and settled in Forrest City where Margaret started school. She graduated from Gettysburg High School in 1947.

On October 18, 1947, she married Donald Underwood and the two made their home on a farm West of Gettysburg. They farmed that land from 1965 - 1986. In 1986 she moved to Pierre where she resided before returning to stay at the Oahe Manor in Gettysburg.

In addition to farming Margaret also worked for the Town and Country Truck Stop and the Bourbon St. Shop both in Pierre. She was also a member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary.

Margaret is survived by her brother, Jim (Pat) Willey of Gettysburg; her sister, Lucille Bliese of Gettysburg; her sister-in-law, Dorothy Willey of Gettysburg; and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Anna Rose (Sternhagen) Willey; her husband, Don Underwood; her son, Lonny Underwood; her brothers, John Willey and Donald Willey; and her brother-in-law, Gary Bliese.
