Obituary

Mass of Christian Burial for Margaret Lenling, 98, of Mobridge will be 10:30 am Friday, October 28, 2016 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Mobridge. Interment will be in the Trail City Cemetery under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home. Visitation will be Thursday, October 27, 2016 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the funeral home. Margaret passed away Sunday, October 23, 2016 at the Selby Good Samaritan Center.

Margaret was born to Baltzaar and Theresa (Reisz) Mattern on August 25, 1918 in Strasburg, North Dakota.

Margaret contacted polio during the 1918-1919-1920's polio epidemic. Her right side became paralyzed because of the polio. She was one of four that survived the polio in the area.

Margaret attended Northern Normal Industrial School (N.S.C.) of Aberdeen to become a teacher.

In 1940 she taught school in Herreid, Java in 1941, at the Aberle school in 1941.

Margaret married Armin Ole Lenling in October 1942 then they moved to the farm at Glencross after their marriage.

In 1944 son Virgil Anthony was born following in 1946 a daughter Shirley Ann joined the family.

After her husband death she moved to Mobridge in 1974 and worked at the Bowling Alley for a number of years.

Margaret is survived by her son, Virgil Lenling of Mobridge, daughter, Shirley (George) Ruhoff of Hot Springs, SD, four grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, sister, Anna Schnetzky of Hot Springs, SD.

Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, nine brothers and sisters, and daughter-in-law Ruby.
