Obituary

Funeral services for Mardella Bollinger, age 74, of Timber Lake will be at 10:30 AM MT, Friday, April 29, 2011 at the United Parish in Timber Lake. Burial will be in the Timber Lake Cemetery under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 PM with a prayer service at 7 PM MT at the church on Thursday. Mardella passed away Sunday, April 24, 2011 at the Mobridge Regional Hospital.

Mardella May Hintz was born January 4th, 1937 to John and Lydia (Dabbert) Hintz in Bowdle, South Dakota. Her parents moved to Mobridge, South Dakota in 1938 where Mardella attended both Elementary and High School. Mardella had three siblings: Robert, Betty and Arlan.

On February 12th 1954 she married Gene Norris Bollinger in Miles City, Montana. They had 2 sons Wade Lee born August 1954 and Timothy John born September 1955. They made their home in Timber Lake in 1956 raising their sons and running a trucking business and operating an elevator and feed store over the years.

Mardella took pride in always having a job and worked many places in Mobridge and Timber Lake. She started working as a waitress but loved keeping books and records. She served as the Deputy Dewey County Treasurer, Deputy Dewey County Auditor and the Dewey County Treasurer. She then went on to be the Secretary for the REA manager at Moreau Grand Electric in Timber Lake. For many years after that she was the Office Manager for Bollinger Trucking which she and Gene ran based out of Timber Lake, South Dakota. Later in life she worked in Mobridge at Gibson's and then back in Timber Lake as the Assistant Librarian.

Mardella had many hobbies. She loved to do crafts and work in her yard. She was an avid reader and loved working at the library where she could access so many books. But Mardella's true passion was in researching family history. She had a collection of family genealogy on six different branches of her family and continuously researched areas of the family through books, news articles and the internet.

Mardella loved having family around and although she only had 2 sons, her family continued to grow into 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren with 2 more on the way yet this year. She loved family get-togethers and potlucks and was always willing to make a pot of Dill Soup or Knoephla Soup to bring her family together for a visit.

Mardella is survived by many family members who loved her deeply. Her siblings Betty & Donald Lemler of Selby and Arlan & Debbie Hintz of Mobridge. Two sons, Wade & Nelda Bollinger of Timber Lake and Timothy Bollinger also of Timber Lake. Nine grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren: Julie & Cliff Keller and children Samantha, Andrea, Braden and Cooper of Tolstoy; Chris & Robin Bollinger and children Gailup, Geana and baby due in May of Timber Lake; Levi & Shaina Bollinger and baby due in September of Chamberlain, Jennifer Bollinger of Timber Lake, Shad Bollinger of Chamberlain, Mandy & Joe Locken and children Kendyl, Tally Jo and Lexi of Isabel, Jeremy & Janna Bollinger and children Trey, Macy, and Kyler of Timber Lake, Kade & Melissa Bollinger and child Ellison of Lakeland, GA and Kade's son Jayce Lawrence of White Horse; and Kelly & Carisa Bollinger of Anchorage, AK. Mardella also had many nieces and nephews that she loved.

Mardella is preceded in death by her parents John (1983) and Lydia (1994) Hintz, her husband Gene Bollinger (1989), a brother Robert Hintz (2004) and a grandson Brandon Bollinger (1976).
