Obituary

Mass of Christian Burial for Magdalena "Maggie" Weinzirl, 91, of Selby, SD, will be Monday January 19, 2015, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Selby, with Fr. Tom Clement officiating. Burial will be in the Selby Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Sunday, January 18, 2015, at 5:00 p.m., with a Liturgical Wake at 7:00 p.m., at the church. Maggie passed away on Friday, January 16, 2015, at the Selby Good Samaritan Center.

Maggie was born on February 17, 1923, in Hague, ND, to Joseph and Christina (Kesler) Grosz. Maggie married Charles Weinzirl on June 3, 1946, at St. Mary's Catholic Church of Hague. They made their home for a short time in Mobridge, SD, and then the remaining years were spent in Selby.

Maggie enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening, drawing, painting, sewing stuffed bears and rabbits, fishing, dancing, playing cards and spending time with her family. She will be remembered for her laugh, her love of animals and her favorite word (whatever).

Maggie is survived by her daughters, Susan Younge of Springfield, MO, Marietta (Steve) Lane of Cordele, GA, and Tina (Mike) Hebner of Carver, MN; her sons, Charles (Evelyn) Weinzirl Jr. of Thrall, TX, Peter (Arlene) Weinzirl of Mobridge, Michael (Darlene) Weinzirl of Shakopee, MN, Tim (Theresa) Weinzirl of Tujunga, CA, and Anthony (Sandy) Weinzirl of Selby; 17 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; her brother, Al (Betty) Grosz; her sisters, Gladys Dyson, Mary (Bill) Ford, Josie Holder, Jenny (Cletus) Hahne, Eva Opheim, Cecelia Engelhaupt, Diane Volk, Alma (Leo) Grosz, Agnes (Benny) Grosz and Nancy (Frank) Grosz.

Maggie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charles; her sons-in-law, Duane Schwingler and George Younge; her brothers, Leo Grosz, Frank Grosz, and Benedict Grosz; her sisters, Theresa Dietz and Elizabeth Gorsline-Chesky; her brothers-in-law, Charles Gorsline, Cam Chesky, Don Dyson, Don Opheim, Franklin Holder, Bernard Engelhaupt and Daniel Volk.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Selby Good Samaritan Center or the Alzheimer's Association.
