Funeral services for Lyle Fuhrman 83 of Mobridge will be Saturday November 7, 2015 at 10:30 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church in Mobridge, SD. Pastor Dan Ofstehage offciating. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. A prayer service will be held on Friday at 7:00 PM at the funeral home. Visitation will begin at 3:00 PM on Friday. Military Graveside Rites will be provided by the Parker- Browder American Legion Post #4. Mr. Fuhrman passed away October 31, 2015 at the Mobridge Regional Hospital in Mobridge, SD.
Lyle Edward Fuhrman was born on April 17th, 1932 in Mansfield, SD to Edward and Nanna (Nelson). Lyle was the oldest of three boys in the family and enjoyed spending time with his brothers Larry and Dennis. He grew up and attended school in Pierpont, SD. Graduating from Pierpont High School in 1950. Lyle entered the US Airforce in November of 1951 and was stationed in Bryan, TX. While home on leave Lyle married his high school sweetheart Betty Preston on January 1, 1953 at the Scandinavia Lutheran church near Bath, SD. Following their marriage they moved to Bryan, TX where Lyle completed his Military service. He was honorably discharged from the US Air Force in November of 1955 as a Staff Sgt. Following his discharge Lyle and Betty returned to South Dakota and settled in Aberdeen, where Lyle opened a Standard Oil Gas Station. Later he started his career with the Coca-Cola Company in Aberdeen and in 1966 the family moved to Mobridge where Lyle was the sales center manager for Coke until retiring in 1994 after 38 years with Coca-Cola. Following his retirement, he spent many days working part time for Alco, and assisting with on the crew for Tumbleson Lawn Service. Lyle was a resident of the Golden Living Center. It was never a surprise to see Lyle volunteering around the community for various events, church groups, clubs and organizations: he was a true ambassador of the Mobridge community.
Lyle was an avid Mobridge Tiger Fan; he spent many days and nights in the gym and on the road following his children's and grandchildren's athletic events and activities. He was very proud of the accomplishments of his family, and always found a special way to make sure those he loved knew he was their biggest fan. Lyle also was a devoted husband and father and incredible two step dancer and a family man. He was never afraid to let those around him know how much they were loved.
He was a devoted member of the American Legion, Jaycee's, Moose Lodge, Dance Club, and Trinity Lutheran Church, Choir and council. His role and efforts in these organizations will forever be remembered.
Lyle is survived by his wife Betty of Mobridge, Son Steve (Pat) Fuhrman of Mobridge, SD, daughters Brenda (Keith) Moler of Rapid City, SD and Sheri (Brent) Adney of Pierre, SD. Grandchildren Scott (Chazadee) Fuhrman, Beth (Josh) Villbrandt, Brittany (Drew) Reuman, Betsy (Ryan) Akers, John Moler, Jenna Moler, Kelsey Adney and Travis Adney. Four great grandchildren Allie and Austin Fuhrman, Kai and Cora Villbrandt. Brother Dennis (Diane) Fuhrman of Lee's Summit, MS.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Larry.
