Funeral services for Lydia Wolf, age 83, of Java will be 2PM Sunday, September 16, 2012 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Java, SD. Burial will be in the Java Cemetery under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge, SD. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 PM at the funeral home. Lydia passed away Friday, September 14, 2012 at the Avera St. Luke's Hospital in Aberdeen, SD.
Lydia was born on Oct. 31, 1928 to John and Rosina (Brandner) Lassle on a farm near Bowdle, SD. Lydia married Edwin Wolf on June 23, 1947 in Selby. They made their home on a farm 2 1/2 miles north of Java and raised 7 children. And in 1967 moved into Java where they lived until 1989. After the death of Edwin, Lydia moved to Mobridge.

She was a member of the St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Java. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the Moose. She worked at the Java School, St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Selby Nursing Home, as well as cleaning homes and doing yard work for other people.

Lydia enjoyed rummage sales, reading, gardening, trivia, family gatherings, helped play bingo at the nursing home, embroidery, and German cooking. The highlight of the day was going to the Senior Citizens Center. She was very proud of her 17 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Lydia is survived by her daughters, Marsha (Charles) Aberle of Trail City, Rhonda (Glen) Landis of Mobridge, Lynette (Alan) Nelson of Mobridge, Burlene (Rick) Metz of Billings, MT, Kim (fiancé Scott Hamre) Berndt of Mobridge, Charlene (Larry) Johnson of Webster, one son Chad Wolf, of Sioux Falls, 17 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, special friends, Freada Mertz and Kandy Blankartz.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, one brother, and great-grandchild Austin Aberle.
