Burial will be in the Lantry Cemetery under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. A Rosary service will be at 5 PM Sunday at the church. Lorane passed away Monday, January 29, 2018, at the Dorsett Home in Spearfish.

Lorane Mae Pritzkau was born October 24, 1927, in Dupree, SD to Carl and Ethel Mae (Fish) Pritzkau.

Lorane grew up on the Pritzkau homestead and attended Lantry School and graduated from Eagle Butte High School in 1946.

She received her teaching certificate from Black Hills Teacher College in Spearfish, SD.  She taught at the Rosene country school and then at the Aldridge country school.

Owen and Lorane met on a blind date setup by her brother Bud.  She married Owen McLellan on September 11, 1948, at the Sacred Heart Rectory, Dupree.  They resided on the McLellan Farm southwest of Lantry where they farmed and ranched with Owen's Dad and Brother Archie.

Yvonne, Leone, Elva, Marla, Dale, Louise, Brenda, Bart, Nila, and Ryan were all born while living on the farm.  The family celebrated Christmas 1967 in their new home in Lantry.  Amy came along in 1969 and the Grandchildren started less than a year later in 1970.  The grandkids spent a lot of time during the summer months at Grandma's house.

Although Lorane's most important job was caring for her family she also worked outside the home.  Lorane worked for the extension agency, traveling to Bear Creek, Thunder Butte, and Iron Lightning to teach home economic classes.  She also worked at Lynn's Super Value in Eagle Butte at the bakery and deli.  She was also a substitute teacher for Lantry, Dupree, and Eagle Butte schools.

Lorane made many clothes for all the kids including Christmas and Easter outfits, wedding dresses, and bridesmaid dresses for the girls.  She made many trips taking relatives and neighbors to appointments and activities.  There was always coffee, cookies and good food when people stopped to visit.  Lorane enjoyed gardening, crocheting, making all kinds of crafts, going fishing, playing the dice game farkle, playing any kind of cards, going to bingo, and a trip to the Casino was usually profitable.  Owen and Lorane enjoyed square dancing and going to card parties.  She was active in the Willing Workers Extension Club for many years, the Sacred Heart Church, Sacred Heart Altar Society, a religion class teacher, and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.

She was a devout Catholic and raised all eleven of her children in the Catholic faith.  She always said her greatest accomplishment was raising her children to be self sufficient.

Lorane is survived by her children Yvonne (Pat) Donovan, Leone Geppert, Elva (Bruce) Newman, Marla (Bob) Salverson, Dale (Terri) McLellan, Louise (Leonard) Ulrich, Brenda (Eric) Kientopf, Bart (Rhonda) McLellan, Nila (Delbert) Woodward, Ryan (Peggy) McLellan, Amy (Robert) Ulrich, 34 Grandchildren, 49 Great Grandchildren, and 4 Great Great Grandchildren; a sister Lila (Randy) Wheeler, a sister in-law Mercedes Pritzkau, and many other relatives and friends who were grateful for having shared in her life.

Lorane was preceded in death by her husband Owen in 2010, her parents Carl and Ethel, her Grandson Arleigh McLellan in 2012, her Granddaughter Kristy (Donovan) Eulburg in 2016, her Great Grandson Clinton C. Farlee in 2017, her Brother Carl (Bud) Pritzkau in 2016, and a Son-In-Law Irvin Shouldis in 2000.
