Funeral Services for Lois Thunder, 67, of Sioux Falls, SD, will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, January 20, 2025, at Founding Mother's Gym (Blue Gym) in McLaughlin. Burial will be in the Pine Little Eagle Cemetery under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. A prayer service will be held on Sunday, January 19, 2025, at 7:00 PM, at the Blue Gym in McLaughlin. Lois passed away, Saturday, January 11, 2025, at Sanford Medical Center in Sioux Falls.
Lois Thunder was born on October 1, 1957, in Ft. Yates, North Dakota, to Percy Archambault and Rachel Mercy (Flying Horse) Otter Robe. She spent her younger years growing up in Bullhead. Lois began her educational journey by attending grade school in McIntosh, South Dakota. She then spent one year at St. Joseph's Indian School before moving on to high school at Flandreau Indian School. Lois continued her education later in life at UTETC in Bismarck, North Dakota, and also attended Sitting Bull College in Fort Yates, where she studied Criminal Justice.
On October 25, 1974, Lois married Lambert Martinez, Sr. Together, they had six children: Jason Martinez, married to Ranelle, Lambert Martinez, Jr., Chad Martinez, Almeda Nanez, married to Jeremy, Aloysius Martinez, Ricky Martinez, married to Sammi. All of her children reside in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
Lois Thunder worked in the food service industry and served as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA). Her dedication to her career and her community was evident throughout her life.
Lois's life was marked by her commitment to her family, her education, and her work.
Lois married Edward Thunder and they made their home in Sioux Falls until his death. She lived the remainder of her life in Sioux Falls.
Lois gave her life to the Lord, was active in Bible Study, Our Grandmother Group, beading and sewing group. She had a lot of friends; she prayed for a lot of people.
Lois is preceded in death by husband Edward Thunder, parents, Percy Archambault and Rachel Otter Robe, grandparents, Louie and Maxine Archambault, William Flying Horse and Bertha Little Eagle Mutchler, sister, Jerrilyn Otter Robe, brothers, Lyle Archambault, Marvin Otter Robe, Jerome Otter Robe III, Randy Otter Robe.
Lois is survived her sisters, Bernadette Hill, Myrna (Ira) Three Legs, AJ Hill, Darlene Peneau, Carmels Otter Robe, her brothers: Raymond Otter Robe, Eldon (Jess) Reed, Brian Narcomy, 16 grandchildren, 6 grandchildren.
