Mass of Christian Burial for Lois Holzer, 97, of Timber Lake, will be at 10:00 am, Monday, July 27, 2026, at Holy Cross church in Timber Lake. Burial will follow at Timber Lake Cemetery under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home. A visitation will begin at 6:00 pm on Sunday, July 26, 2026, with a prayer service to begin at 7:00 pm at the Holy Cross Church. Lois passed away on Saturday, July 18, 2026, at Rolling Hills Health Care in Belle Fourche, SD.
The funeral service will be livestreamed.
Lois Anne Coyle was born April 28, 1929 to Justus and Iva (McGuire) Coyle at the family farm north of Timber Lake, Corson County, South Dakota. The family moved to Timber Lake in 1936. She attended the Taylor and Pleasant View country schools and St. Joseph Catholic School. Lois graduated from Timber Lake High School in 1947.
She married Michael Holzer on October 12, 1948 at St. Joseph’s Catholic church in Timber Lake. She was employed by the PMA at the time of her marriage. Later she was Deputy Register of Deeds and in 1967, she started working for USDA Farmers Home Administration where she worked until her retirement in 1994.
Blessed to have shared her life, are survivors including three sons, Stan from Timber Lake, SD, Dan (Debbie) from Vancouver, WA, daughter Dianne Valle (Jerry) from Colorado Springs, CO, Dennis (Jodi) from Deadwood, SD, and son-in-law Don Tucker (Sharon) from Federal Way, WA.
Lois is also survived by brother David Coyle from Minneapolis, MN, and sisters Kathleen Keller, Sioux Falls, SD, Rita Christie, Escondido, CA, and LaVonne Daniel, Vacaville CA. She is also survived by sixteen grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
Lois was preceded in death by her husband Mike, her parents, two brothers, Joe and Donald, four sisters, Mary Long, Monica Welk, Theresa Moser, and Geraldine Holzer, her daughter, Sharon Tucker, and two grandsons, Michael and Steven.
She was a member of Holy Cross Church in Timber Lake, Holy Cross Altar Society and the American Legion Auxiliary.
