Lois M. Bricks, age 87, most recently of Selby, SD and formerly of Shelby, MT, passed away peacefully on March 18, 2023.  Lois Marie Giske was born October 1, 1935 in Bagley, Minnesota, to Carl and Mabel Giske.  She grew up on a farm north of Berner, Minnesota.  After graduating from Gonvick High School, she went west to Great Falls, Montana, to "find a cowboy like Tim Holt in the movies."  She met Ronald Bricks on a blind date in 1955 and they were married May 12, 1956 in Great Falls.  While raising their young family, they lived for a time in La Puente, California and Kalispell, Montana, before settling back in Great Falls. Lois was a Sunday School teacher and choir member for many years at Peace Lutheran Church in Great Falls.  She taught Ron how to dance and together they enjoyed dancing to live bands and later square dancing.  Lois wore many working hats over the years, including telephone operator at Mountain Bell, baker in the lunchroom at Longfellow Elementary School, Avon Lady, and shoe and clothing salesperson at The Bon department store.  She was a bank teller while she and Ron lived in Sidney, MT, Lewistown, MT, and Shelby before becoming a deputy in the Toole County Clerk of Court's office in Shelby.  Ron passed away in 2008, and Lois moved to the Walworth County Care Center in Selby, South Dakota.  She had a good strong handshake and expected nothing less of others when greeting them.

Lois is survived by daughter Karen (Dale) Hamre of Selby, SD, and grandsons Steven, John, and Eli.  She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Alvin Phillip, her husband Ron, and her son David.

Inurnment will take place this summer at the Hillcrest Lawn Memorial Mausoleum in Great Falls.
