Funeral services for Lois H. Alwin, 84, of Belle Fourche and formerly of Mobridge will be 10:30 AM, Wednesday, June 22, 2011 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Mobridge. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. Visitation is Tuesday from 4-7 PM with a prayer service starting at 7 at the funeral home. Lois passed away June 17, 2011 at a local nursing home in Belle Fourche.

Lois Ellefson Alwin was born March 12, 1927 to Herman and Laura (Lee) Ellefson in Madison, Minnesota. At the age of 3 her family moved to Philip, South Dakota. In 1937 her family moved back to Madison, MN where she attended school and graduated from High School. During high school she was very active, played guitar in high school bank, tap danced and high school journalism.

Lois married Duane "Dewey" Alwin on May 28, 1961 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Mobridge. From 1966 to 1969 they made their home in Washington state. Together they then moved back to Mobridge. In 1981 Lois and Dewey moved to Douglas, Wyoming and managed the Moose Lodge. They moved back to Mobridge in 1984 and managed the Moose Lodge there.

Lois worked many years as a waitress and host, and had many fond memories of the friends she had met. She loved to bowl, sing, and dance, she also enjoyed writing letters and embroidering. Lois moved to Belle Fourche, SD in 2006 to be near her daughter and family.

Lois is survived by her two daughters; Marlys (Jim) Guerrant of Spartanburg, SC and Arlawayne Keller of Belle Fourche, SD, five grandchildren; James Guerrant and Family, Laura Wagoner and Family, Brett Keller and Family, Todd Keller and Family, and Ashley Wientjes and Family, and also a special niece; Janice Novak and Family.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 1998, five brothers, 3 sisters, and 1 granddaughter.
