Funeral services for LeVida Quaschnick, age 66 of Herreid, will be 10:00 AM Saturday, January 25, 2014 at Herreid Baptist Church. Visitation will start Friday, January 24, 2014 at 5:00 PM with a family prayer service at 7:00 PM at the church. Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. LaVida passed away Monday, January 20, 2014 at Sanford Hospital in Bismarck.

LeVida Quaschnick
LeVida was born on July 17, 1947 in Mobridge to Reinhold and Martha (Shrenk) Quenzer. She was raised in Herreid, SD and graduated from the Herreid High School in 1965. LeVida worked for the South Dakota Motor Vehicle Department in Pierre for 3 years.
LeVida married EuGene Quaschnick on February 8, 1969. Gene was enlisted in the United States Air Force. Right after there marriage, they moved overseas to serve in Germany. This is where their daughter Mary Jane was born in 1971. A second daughter Patti Jo was born in New Mexico in 1974. The Air Force moved LeVida and her family one more time to Minot, ND. Gene was discharged on January 21, 1987. LeVida was a military wife for 20 years. They decided to retire in Pollock, SD in 1988. LeVida worked as a nurses aide for 17 years before her diabetes enabled her to work no longer. LeVida had dealt with her diabetes for over two decades. LeVida moved to Bismarck, ND to undergo dialysis treatments three times a week. She had been in and out of hospitals and nursing homes during those years. She was given the opportunity to receive a kidney transplant that let her move home in 2001. Her kidney helped her quality of life for nearly ten years. Once the kidney was depleted, LeVida moved back to Bismarck to sit through dialysis once again until her death at Sanford Hospital on January 20, 2014.
LeVida enjoyed cooking shows, playing Old Maid and spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband EuGene Quaschnick of Herreid, SD, two daughters and son-in-laws: Mary and (Cody) Renner of Pollock, SD, Patti and (David) Vander Vliet of Herreid, SD, five grandchildren, Kelsey Quaschnick, Cole Renner, Luke Renner, Savanna Vander Vliet, and Hunter Vander Vliet, three brothers; Clinton and (Corrine) Quenzer of Glasgow, KY, Delmar and (Sandy) Quenzer of Winter Haven, FL and Roger Quenzer of Still Water, MN, step-mother-in-law, Delores Quaschnick of Wheatland, WY, many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and father and mother-in-law Walter and Jane Quaschnick and nephew Eric Quaschnick.
