Funeral services for LeRoy M. "Big Blue" Archambault, age 55, of Ft. Yates will be at 1 PM CT, Saturday, October 23, 2010 at the Bullhead School Gym. Burial will be at St. Aloysius Catholic Cemetery under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. An all night wake will start at 6 PM Friday with services at 7 PM at the gym. LeRoy passed away Friday, October 15, 2010 at his home in McLaughlin.
LeRoy Michael "Blue" Archambault was born on March 15, 1955 to LeRoy and Joyce (Village Center) Archambault in Ft. Yates, ND. He grew up in Bullhead and attended school at St. Joseph's Indian School in Chamberlain. LeRoy graduated from Fort Yates High School in 1973. Following graduation he entered the US Navy on August 19, 1974. He entered with Allen Archambault, Emerson Hairy Chin and Myron Iron Thunder. After being discharged from the Navy he returned to Ft. Yates.
In April of 1975 he met Irene Little Bear. They were married in June of 1975 and made their home in Bullhead. To this union eight children were born.
In 1989 LeRoy met Corliss Knuth. Since then they have had a special relationship and together have one son, Shayne Knuth.
LeRoy drove school bus in Ft. Yates for many years before driving bus for Head Start. He enjoyed picking mushrooms, fixing cars, spending time with his grandchildren, and cooking. He was a kind hearted man who was always laughing and joking.
He is survived by his special friend, Corliss of McLaughlin, son, Shayne of McLaughlin,
his ex-wife, Irene Little Bear of Bullhead, children, Allison Montez of Bismarck, Michelle Archambault (John) of Bismarck, Michael Archambault (Carmen) of Bullhead, Jada Archambault (Alex) of Bullhead, Alex Archambault Sr. (Lucy) of Bullhead, Misty Blu Archambault (Lonnie Jr.) of Bullhead, Tomi Archambault (Roxy) of Bismarck, Kiki Archambault (Nichole) of Mobridge, Molly (Michael) Northam of Laurel, NE, one very special daughter, Shyla Yellow Earrings, his favorite grandson, Daunte' Michael Archambault, grandchildren, Cynthia, Teri & Eliana Montez, Dace Guggolz, Michael Blue Jr., Marcus, Matthew LeRoy, Mason & Max Archambault, Nyssia Little Eagle, Alex Archambault Jr., Tyesha Archambault, Xavier White Mountain, Kruz Archambault, Xeige Colombe, Rhianna Red Bear, Beaux, Mia & Emmet Northam; sisters, Barb Archambault of Selfridge, Phoebe Silk of Ft. Yates, Kay Archambault of Bismarck, and Pamela Archambault of Bismarck, brothers, Lloyd Archambault of Bismarck, William Archambault of Ft. Yates, and Rocky Archambault of Ft. Yates and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his father, LeRoy Archambault, mother, Joyce Rush, and brother, Ira Archambault.
Casketbearers will be Michael B. Archambault Sr., Lloyd Archambault, Alex Archambault Sr., William Archambault, Tomi Archambault, Kiki Archambault.
