Funeral service for Leonora Ritter age 86 of Mobridge will be 10:30 AM Monday, December 14, 2015 at the United Congregational Church with Pastor Richard Kurtz officiating. Burial will be in the Mound City Cemetery under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. Visitation will be Sunday December 13, 2015 from 2 to 5PM at Kesling Funeral Home. Leonora passed away Thursday, December 10, 2015 at the Golden Living Center in Mobridge.

Leonora was born December 27, 1928, to George and Nora (Nelson) Pekelder of Wakpala and completed grade school at Wakpala. Her high school years were spent at Plainview Academy in Redfield.

Leonora taught school for a short time and then married Alvin Ritter on July 7, 1948.
They moved to a farm 10 miles SW of Mound City where they raised their family of 4 children and started a dairy farm which turned into a Grade A Dairy. Leonora worked very hard at making sure the dairy was up to code and always loved taking care of her chickens and her flowers. Cats were very special to her and occupied a special place in her heart.
Her greatest enjoyment was to look outside her living room window in the calm of the farm and listen to old country music and watch the pheasants and deer.

Leonora is survived by her children Audrey Miller, Gillette, WY., Leland (Noreen) Ritter, Mobridge, Roland (Char) Ritter of Pierre, Sandy (Bill) Meckle of Keldron, sister Lois Utter of McIntosh, sister-in-law, Betty Swanson of Mobridge Louise Ritter of Clark and Marlene Ritter of Mobridge, grandchildren Eric Miller, Chris Miller, Amanda Miller, Jamie Ritter, Joshua Ritter, Alexis Kling, and Hayes Meckle, 3 step-great-grandchildren, and 6 Great-grandchildren. many nieces and nephews. Charmin her cat at the Golden Living Center.

Leonora was preceded in death by her husband Alvin, her parents, and brothers Harold Smith and Vernon Pekelder.
