Leonard Herman "Slick" Weisbeck died on June 22nd 2018 at CHI St.Alexius  in Bismarck, North Dakota, after battling with a severe infection for several months. Funeral services will be held Friday June 29th at 10:30 a.m. at St Michael's Catholic Church in Herreid, South Dakota with graveside Services following the funeral at Fairview Cemetery of Herreid. Family Services will be Thursday evening June 28th at 8 p.m. Rosary prior to services.

Leonard was born February 24th 1941 on the family farm north of Herreid, South Dakota, to Marie (Schall) and Herman Weisbeck. He was the seventh child of nine he graduated from Herreid High School. After graduation he moved to Chicago, Illinois where he worked with his brother Cyril installing Burglar Alarm Systems. In January of 1964 he entered the army and had basic training at Fort Leonard Wood after basic training he served as a supply officer and security officer at Fort Sill, Oklahoma until January of 1966. After leaving the Army he returned to Herreid where he met Ellen Pudwill and they were married May 2nd 1969 they had two children Bonnie born November 17th 1969 and Robert born July 19th 1971. They divorced in 1997.

Slick had many talents and had held many jobs: farmhand, mechanic and service technician for an NewHolland implement dealer, custodian/maintenance man/bus driver at the Herreid School, he was a service tech/mechanic at the Herreid Sporting Center and most recently he ran the scoreboard for basketball and football games at the Herreid School. He was very active in volunteer service and was a past member of the Herreid Jaycee's, the Campbell County Ambulance, and the Herreid Volunteer Fire Department, as well as a current member of the American Legion Jacob A. Heinrich Post #170. He also had many hobbies including playing pool, bowling, playing cards, singing and yodeling, playing board games, doing puzzles, watching local sporting events and many others too numerous to mention.

His final months were spent with family and friends and the loving staff from several hospitals and care centers.

He is survived by his daughter Bonnie Schick (the late James) and son Robert and Letty Weisbeck of Herreid. Grandchildren. McKenzie "Mickey" and Sydney "Sido" of Bismarck, ND, Dawson, Dalton Schick, Isabelle "Izzy" Kooker, and Landon Weisbeck all of Herreid, his sister Rita Fjeldheim late Orland Fjeldheim of Herreid, brother James Weisbeck and Eileen of Herreid, sister-in-law Cyrella Weisbeck and the late Donald of Herreid, brother Cyril Weisbeck and Vi of Palatine, Illinois, brother, Raymond "Francis" Weisbeck and wife Rose of Herreid, sister, Virginia Silvernagel of Bloomington, Minnesota, brother Walter Weisbeck and Paula of Prescott Wisconsin, brother Eugene "Beno" Weisbeck and Jackie  of Rapid City, SD, and many nieces and nephews too numerous to mention.

He was preceded in death by his parents Herman and Marie Weisbeck, his brother Donald, brother-in-law Orland, and son-in-law James Schick.

He will be greatly missed.
