Private family service for Leonard Landis age 71 of San Jose, CA will be 11:00 AM Tuesday, July 14, 2020 at Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge, SD. Interment will be in the Trail City Cemetery under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home. Visitation will be Monday, July 13, 2020 from 5:00 PM to 7PM at Kesling Funeral Home. Leonard passed away at his home in San Jose, CA.

Leonard Edward Landis was born in Mobridge on November 26, 1948 to Lenhard and Hilda (Raile) Landis. He attended school in the Mobridge Public School system. After school he delivered the Aberdeen American Newspaper in Mobridge on his bicycle to sometimes close to 100 customers.

He won an award for being the most outstanding paper boy in the area for the American News.

He worked at various jobs in the Mobridge area before moving to Vacaville, California in 1981. There he worked for Arrow Glass and at Wendy's.

In 1983 he moved to San Jose, California. There he went to work for Valley Medical Hospital April 15, 1983 as a janitor until 2008 at which his health forced him to quit. After 25 years of service, he had many health issues since retirement.

He enjoyed cruising in his 2014 Challenger car, fishing whenever possible, and Casino's in Mobridge and Reno, Nevada.

He is survived by one sister, Donna (Richard) Keller, nieces, Tonya (Thane) Badger, Tammy Landis, Trish (Bill) Bublitz, nephew, Todd Landis and many great nieces and nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lenhard and Hilda Landis, brother, LeRoy Landis and sister-in-law, Julie Landis, grandparents, John and Lena Landis, Fred and Eva Raile Raile and many aunts and uncles.
