Funeral services for Lavina Three Legs, 81, of Wakpala, SD, are 11AM, Wednesday, December 30, 2015, at the Wakpala Community Center. Burial at St. Elizabeth's Episcopal Cemetery under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge, SD. Visitation begins at 5PM Tuesday, December 29, 2015, with a prayer service at 7PM, at the Wakpala Community Center. Lavina passed away Wednesday, December 23, 2015, at the Golden Living Center in Mobridge.
Lavina was born on October 13, 1934, in Mad Bear Camp, SD, to Matthew and Laura (Plays With Iron) Oka. She attended boarding school in Marty, SD. She spent her time as a homemaker, raising her children and grandchildren.
Lavina was a very helpful person who helped in any way she could. She enjoyed being a collector for the church at Christmas time. She was an active member of St. Elizabeth's Episcopal Church. She also enjoyed going to pow-wows with the family. She also went to the casino as a hobby. One could always see Lavina walking on a daily basis, whether to get the mail or to the district building for meetings.
Lavina is survived by her three sons, Gilbert, Glenn and Gordon Three Legs; her grandchildren, Nadine, Nathan Dyanna, Cheyenne, Hannarae, Leon, Dylan, Salena, Reese, Tova, Tiffany, Jade, and Wade "Kirby" Jr; as well as great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and a hunka daughter.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Matthew and Laura Oka; her husband, Wilbur Three Legs; her daughter, Marita Clark; her sons, Daniel Strong Heart, Maynard Three Legs, and Wade Three Legs Sr.; her sisters, Madeline Many Horses, and Gladys Bird Horse; and her brothers, Bernard Oka, Charles Oka, and Harlan Oka.
