Funeral services for Laura Bohlander, age 89, of Mobridge will be at 11 AM, Saturday, February 4, 2012 at the United Methodist Church in Mobridge. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. Visitation will start at 2 PM Friday with a prayer service at 7 PM at the funeral home. Laura passed away Monday, Jan. 30, 2012 at the Mobridge Regional Hospital.

Laura Regina Bohlander was born on July 9, 1922 in rural Java, SD to George and Lydia (Delker) Robinson. She attended school and graduated from Bowdle High School. She then went on to Aberdeen Normal College where she obtained her teachers certificate. Following college she began teaching in rural schools in the Mobridge area. On June 29, 1947 she married the love of her life Herbert Bohlander in Bowdle. They made their home in Mobridge for a short time before settling in Glenham.

Laura's family and church were the most important things to her. Herbert and her were foster parents to many children throughout the years. She was a great caregiver and had love for everybody. She enjoyed making quilts in which all her nieces and nephews received. She also made numerous wedding cakes for families in the area. Laura eventually moved into the Golden Living Center in Mobridge where she enjoyed all the activities that they had to offer.

Laura is survived by her daughters, Gail (Larry) Johnson of Orchard, CO and Marjorie (Larry) Bearsheart of Mobridge; grandchildren, Carrie Bohlander, Clint Bohlander, Jessica Defender, Joshua Defender, Brandon Johnson and Summer Scandariato; great grandchildren, Mariah, Kenton, Karma, Koypoh, Jena, Kiley, Jagger, Ava, Lili, and Ryker; brothers, Herbert (Elfrieda) Robinson of Tennessee, and LeRoy (Betty) Robinson of Boulder, CO; sister-in-law, Irma Robinson of Hastings, MN and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Herbert, two brothers, Albert and Edgar and one sister in infancy.
