He was baptized and confirmed in the Pollock Lutheran Church in old Pollock. Larry grew up on the farm and attended the Solmonson Country School Through the eighth grade.

He married Gladys Rossow May 20, 1956 at the Pollock Lutheran Church in the old town

He was the chairman of Eastern Campbell County Web Board and worked very hard to get water to farmers in this area and the town of Herreid. He loved music. He and his wife enjoyed singing in the choir at the Herreid Assembly of God Church, which he attended for many years. He received the Tree Farmer Award in 1995 for Campbell County. He loved trees and planted many acres around his farm. Larry enjoyed working on antique tractors and older vehicles.
