Visitation will be from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m., with a prayer service beginning at 7:00 p.m., on Friday at the Kesling Funeral Home. Burial will take place at the Mound City Cemetery under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge, SD. Larry passed away January 20, 2015, at the Mobridge Regional Hospital.

Larry was born on October 17, 1938, to Theofel and Elsie (Reich) Fischer in rural Herreid, SD, on the family farm. He received his education at the rural school near Mound City as well as attending Herreid High School.

On November 23, 1958, he married Elaine Bauer at the Zion Lutheran Church in Eureka, SD. The marriage was blessed with two children, Tim in 1960 and Michelle in 1962. The made their home in Selby where he delivered equipment for Thorstenson Implement. After five years the family moved to Watertown where Larry worked for Watkins Sales. In 1965 the family moved to Mound City to take over the local café from Larry's parents, which they ran for 18 years. He also began working for the rural postal service in 1971, accumulating 31 years of service before retirement.

In his free time Larry was a very active member of the community. He was one of the first members of the "Lake Campbell Wildlife Club", a brief member of the Pollock school board, a member of the Mound City Community Club, he worked for ASC, and was a member of the volunteer fire department (1965 - Present) where he acted as treasurer.

After retirement both Larry and Elaine were able to spend years traveling together. Some of these trips included a cruise around South America, a trip to Europe, bus trips visiting most the states of the U.S., and fishing trips to Canada with his son and grandson. He especially enjoyed their winter trips to Texas.

Larry's grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the apple of his eye, exercising his extreme abundance of love and patience while teaching all three of his grandchildren to drive his pickup.

Larry is survived by his wife of 56 years, Elaine Fischer of Mound City; his son, Tim (Marilyn) Fischer of Rapid City, SD; his daughter, Michelle (Rick) Delzer of Herreid, SD; his grandchildren, Tanya (Larry) Walth of Aberdeen, SD, Tara (Ross) Hettinger of Aberdeen, and Matthew Fischer (Lexi Lacy) of Columbia, MO; his great-grandchildren, Akaysha Delzer and Jordan Fischer; his siblings, Doris Wellner of Orange Park, Fl, and Dan (Pam) Fischer of Mobridge, SD; his sisters-in-law, Lynn Lombard, MN, Geri (Chuck) Huss, CA, and Geneva Fischer, WA; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents; his parents, Theofel and Elsie Fischer; his father and mother-in-law, Alfred and Violet Bauer; his brother, Jim Fischer; and his brothers-in-law, Don Wellner and Greg Lombard.
