Obituary

Mass of Christian Burial for Lane Lawrence, 25, of Whitehorse will be at 10 AM, MT, Monday, September 19, 2016 at All Saints Catholic Church in Eagle Butte. Burial will be at the Lawrence Family Cemetery under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. Visitation will start at 5 PM, CT, Sunday with a prayer service at 7 PM, CT, at St. Therese's Catholic Church in Whitehorse. Lane passed away Sunday September 11, 2016 at the Sheets Ranch, ND.

Lane Thomas Lawrence, 25, of Minot, ND and Whitehorse, SD, died Sunday, September 11, 2016 at the Sheets Ranch, near Minot.

Lane was born May 30, 1991, in Aberdeen, SD to Todd Lawrence and Leigh Cudmore. He grew up in Whitehorse & Eagle Butte, SD and Minot, ND. Lane graduated high school in Timber Lake, SD in 2009.

Lane was a bull rider in every sense of the word. He competed during his youth and as an adult in various rodeos in North and South Dakota. He loved the cowboy way of life and embraced all it had to offer.

He worked on various ranches during his lifetime. Lane was always the first one to lend a helping hand, cover any chores for those in need and always put everyone before himself.

He was all you could ever ask for in a son and was simply the best big brother. He valued the time spent with his family. Fishing was one of his favorite past-times. He was also an avid Miami Dolphins fan. Lane will be missed by all who shared in his life.

Those who shared his life include; his mother, Leigh (Justin Payne) Sheets, Minot, ND and his father, Todd (Carla) Lawrence, Whitehorse, SD; sisters, Kelsie (Clint LeCompte) Lawrence, Whitehorse, SD, Sydney (Jake Benson) Pearman, Dunn Center, ND, Dee'Laney Sheets, Minot, ND and Journey Lawrence, Whitehorse, SD; brothers TJ & Smokey Lawrence, Whitehorse, SD, Kellon Lawrence, Timber Lake, SD and Bodie &Tygan Sheets, Minot, ND; special sister and brother, Jessica and Zane Enney, Minot, ND; maternal grandmothers, Mona Demery, Eagle Butte, SD and Leona Sheets, New Town, ND; paternal grandmother, Almeda Lawrence of Whitehorse, SD; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Lane was preceded in death by his great-grandparents; Leonard & Syble Claymore and Robert & Delphine Lawrence; grandfathers Robby Tom Lawrence, Albert E. Cudmore and Mervel Hall; stepfather Jeffrey Sheets; uncles Lee Eugene Cudmore, Delaney Cudmore and Cousin Marty Stadel
