Kwang Redlegs was born July 30, 1942 in Choongchung buk-do, Republic of Korea. Much of her childhood was spent surviving the Korean War but she successfully graduated high school and worked in Seoul. This is where she met her husband Gabriel Redlegs, who was serving in the U.S. Army. They were married on May 20, 1963 and Gabriel was then transferred back to Fort Hood, Texas. After arriving at Fort Hood, they lost most of their personal belongings to flooding and Kwang was carried to safety by her husband. Soon after, Gabriel suffered congestive heart failure and was discharged from the Army after 24 years of service. They moved back to Gabriel's home state of South Dakota (McLaughlin) and made it their home for the remainder of their lives.
Soon after arriving in South Dakota, she had given birth to her first son Lee in 1966 and one year later, Mario was born. They then relocated to Mobridge from McLaughlin and Kwang then started working at the Arcade on Main Street for a short time before accepting a job as a nursing assistant at the Mobridge Care Center (Golden Living Center). This is where she found her niche. It was the beginning of a 40 year career helping many people. She loved helping people and she treated everyone with of care and compassion and she took care of many of the area residents and/or their family members. Most everyone has a story of Kwang and her care for their loved one. She saw many nurses and nursing assistants come and go and made many friendships throughout the years. "Caring", "friendly", "lovely", and "an angel" are some of the words to describe Kwang . Many people go through life wondering if they had an influence on somebody's life….Kwang most definitely did.
Kwang was a member of the St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Mobridge for many years. She was well known for her beautiful garden and many flowers in her yard each summer. She enjoyed spending time having tea or shopping all day with her girlfriends. She was most proud of her two sons and was well known for calling them "My Lee" and "My Mario". Her sons were very fortunate to spend her remaining days on earth by her side, soaking in the laughter and love that she gave.

Kwang was preceded in death by her husband Gabriel Redlegs, her parents Hae Sung Baek and Man Young Yun, and one brother Ha Hyun Baek. She is survived by her sons Lee Redlegs (wife Diane) from Rapid City, SD and Mario Redlegs of Aberdeen, SD. Three brothers, Chang Hyun Beck (Seung Sook), Cha Hyun Beck, Kwang Hyun Beck (Thao Tran) and one sister, Hyun Soon Beck. Two grandchildren, Martin Phillip Sicard and Kaitlyn Lee Sicard-Redlegs.
