Funeral services for Kendall "Ben" Rossow, age 42, of Herreid will be Thursday, May 5, 2011 at 10:30 AM at the Herreid Community Center. Burial will be at the Fairview Cemetery in Herreid under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5-730 PM with a prayer service at 730 PM at the Community Center in Herreid. Kendall passed away Sunday, May 1, 2011 in Reliance, SD.

Kendall Wayne (Ben) Rossow was born Aug. 29, 1968 to Ronald and Donna (Berndt) Rossow in Eureka, SD. He attended grade and high school in Herreid, graduating in 1986. He attended Watertown Vo-Tech and earned diplomas in Auto and Diesel Mechanics working at LaFrambois Construction during college.

He married Sandy Binde in May 1989 in Watertown and they had a daughter Amber. Kendall moved to Herreid and was employed at the Eureka Veterinary Service, Mitzel Hog Ranch, L & O Acres, Herreid Concrete, Baumann Tire Service and was currently employed with Ochsner Trucking.

He married Jana Hammerich in May 2003 in Herreid. He thoroughly enjoyed driving truck and making many good friends with fellow drivers. In his "free" time you could find him puttering in his garden which he enjoyed and gave his produce away to anyone who wanted it. His joy of working with people found him helping anyone and everyone with whatever they needed doing. When he was bored he helped his brother Kim with repair work or whatever needed to be done at Herreid Livestock. He was currently president of the Herreid Rodeo Club and a member of the Sons of the Legion. He especially liked to go to his parent's farm and help where there always seemed to be something that needed to be done and was looking forward to being a grandpa in October.

Survivors are daughter Amber of Watertown, soulmate Deb Goldade of Bismarck, parents, Ronald and Donna Rossow. Seven brothers and sisters: Colleen (Dale) Rueb, Herreid, Carmen (Wayne) Jankord, Castlewood, Kevin (Jodi) Rossow of Glenwood City, WI, Kim (Julie) Rossow, Herreid, Kay (Dan) Whaley, Hudson, WI, Carin (Tim) Schmitz, Dawson, MN, Kyle (Mindy) Rossow, Herreid, many nieces and nephews and maternal grandmother Martha Berndt, Herreid.

Kendall was preceded in death by paternal grandparents Ernest Rossow in 1989 and Lea Rossow in 2000, maternal grandfather Labolt Berndt in 1993, his favorite horse Cliff on Feb. 26, 2011.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials to the Campbell County Rodeo Club for the new bleachers.
