Kaycee Joan Rousseau passed away February 3 rd , 2019 at St Mary's Hospital in Rochester, MN. She was an amazing woman with a love for movie quotes, baking and laughing with family and friends. Kaycee was a beautiful bright soul inside and out, with a radiant smile, great dimples, a kind heart and a whole lot of sass and wit.

Kaycee was born in Eagle Butte, SD at Indian Health Service Hospital on November 8, 1980 to Gary and Tudee (Marshall) Rousseau. She attended Cheyenne –Eagle Butte High school and graduated in May 1999. After high school she split her time living in Rapid City and Eagle Butte. While living in Rapid City she earned her first bachelor's degree in Athletic Training from National American University. She later earned her second bachelor's degree in Health Science online with the University of South Dakota. She worked as a Pharmacy tech, Housing Manager and Optometry tech at Cheyenne River Health Center-IHS. Kaycee always said she loved her time living in Rapid City and missed being around all the friends she had made her family.

In 2012, Kaycee Joan met the love of her life, Kelly Jack Berndt. Kaycee love and cared for Kelly very much. She lit up whenever she spoke of him even though she would sometimes threaten to throw a shoe at him. They enjoyed cruising around town while listening to music and trying to find the perfect place for Kaycee to take pictures of sunsets and the moon. They were engaged to be married on April 1 st, 2017. With this relationship came two "bonus" children, Adam (15) and Emma (12) who she loved and raised as her own. Kaycee's family enjoyed traveling and spending time together on the 4 th of July.

Kaycee was the absolute best Auntie in the Universe. She was a second mother to all her nieces and nephews and loved them as her own. She loved to spend time teaching her girls to put on makeup even if their Dad did not approve and taking her boys to hockey games. She would go to as many football and volleyball games as she could and would cheer loud and proud for all to hear. We will miss our cheerleader but know that Gaby will do his best to "WHOO!" as loud as he can just like Auntie Kaycee taught him.   She was deeply loved and cherished by each of them and had a special relationship with them all. Kaycee said her love for them was "Infinite and unconditional…Happiness did not begin to describe how it felt to have them in her life".

Kaycee battled her health most of her life. In the last several years a clotting disorder caused issues with her heart and lungs. On November 14 th , 2018, she had surgery to remove several old blood clots from her lungs and had a hole repaired in her heart. After 82 days of hospitalization, several surgeries and numerous complications, Kaycee elected to discontinue treatment. She passed away peacefully on February 3 rd , 2019 with her parents and her Kelly at her side. She will be forever missed by all her family and friends and our lives will never be the same this side of Heaven.

Kaycee is survived by her parents Gary and Tudee Rousseau, sisters: Kenna (Sid) LaPlante, Heather (Joe) Maxwell, and her brother Heath (Caitlin) Rousseau. Fiancé' Kelly Berndt, bonus children Adam and Emma Berndt, her nieces Macy and Lany LaPlante, nephews Clay and Gaby LaPlante and Aidan Martin.
