Mass of Christian Burial for Katherine Kay Fire Thunder, 73, of Mobridge will be at 11 AM CT, Saturday, January 6, 2023, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Morristown. Burial will be at the Morristown Cemetery under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. Visitation will be from 5-7 PM Friday at Kesling Funeral Home in Mobridge. Kay passed away Thursday, December 7, 2023, at the Mobridge Regional Hospital.

Katherine Kay Fire Thunder Kasten was born June 23, 1950, to Jay and Sophie Penny.

Katherine loved to travel and saw many places in the United States. Throughout her life, she lived in various places. She later settled in Mobridge, South Dakota.

Katherine is survived by two daughters; Denise Evenson and Dakota Rea Domongio & Family, two sons; Dennis Evenson and David Lee Domongio & Family, four brothers, William Penny, Ronald (Tara) Volesky, Gary Montana, Manuel Penny, one sister, Linda (Kenny) West. She is also survived by numerous uncles, aunts, nephews and cousins.

Katherine was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Kasten, her mother and father, son, Douglas Koehler and grandson, Aunt Lucy, special friend Kevin Dirk and numerous uncles, aunts and cousins.
