Funeral services for Kara Olson, age 11, of Selby will be at 10:30 AM, Friday, May 27, 2011 at St. John Lutheran Church in Selby. Burial will be in Selby Memorial Gardens. Visitation will start at 5 PM Thursday at the church with a prayer service at 7 PM. Kara passed away on Tuesday, May 24, 2011 at the Rapid City Regional Hospital. Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge is entrusted with Kara's services.

Kara Lynn Olson was born on July 19, 1999 in Aberdeen, SD to Claude and Linda (Schmidtgall) Olson. She lived with her family on the farm near Selby. Kara was born with Rhizomelic Chondrodysplasia Punctata and was only given a year to live. However Kara was a trooper and surpassed all expectations and almost made it to twelve years old. Kara was baptized at St. John Lutheran Church in Selby. She loved being at home playing in her bouncy seat with lights and music surrounding her. Kara also enjoyed it when her big sister, Kayla would make her smile. Kara's family loved her very much and their angel will be missed by all of them.

Grateful for sharing in Kara's life are her parents, Claude and Linda Olson and sister Kayla Olson of Selby, Grandparents, Jerry and Shirley Olson of Selby and Duane and Bev Schmidtgall of Selby, Aunts and Uncles, Corinne and Shannon Kvarness of Selby, Arlene and Ted Hicks of Kadoka, SD, and Elaine and Chase Sanftner of Blackhawk, SD and numerous cousins.

Casketbearers will be Jesse Krein, Shannon Kvarness, Chase Sanftner and Ted Hicks.

Honorary Bearers will be Jaida Krein, Travis Krein, Lindsey Sanftner, Levi Sanftner, Kassie Hicks and Jarred Hicks.
