Mass of Christian Burial for Julie Marshall, 81, of Eagle Butte will be at 10 AM, Saturday February 16, 2019 at All Saints Catholic Church in Eagle Butte. Burial will be at St. Theresa's Catholic Cemetery in Whitehorse under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. A Scriptural Wake Service will be at 7 PM Friday at the church. Julie passed away Friday, February 8, 2019 at St. Mary's Hospital in Pierre.

Julie Marie Jewett Marshall was born Feb 2, 1938 at the Old Cheyenne Agency to George and Keva (Rousseau) Jewett and she died surrounded by her family February 8, 2019 in Pierre, SD.

She attended boarding school, graduating from Stephan Indian School in 1956.  She received a Bachelors of Education degree from Northern State College in 1962.

In 1960, her first child Brenda, was born followed by Allison, Mike, and Matthew. Her children were always her priority and she made many sacrifices so that they could be happy.

Julie married the love of her life, Gib Marshall, March 13, 1980 and they raised cattle & quarter horses near Thunder Butte, SD and lived in Eagle Butte, SD.

She dedicated 44 years of her life to education, working 38 plus years for the Bureau of Indian Education teaching 1st grade.

After retiring in 2007, she threw herself headlong into ranching and she and her husband Gib shared their lifelong experiences with her daughter Brenda and her husband Roy and her niece Jennifer and her husband Mitch. She was the keeper of the count, the decider of the plans and the maker of the best baked beans anyone ever had.

She will be missed forever and held in cherished memories by her loving husband, Gib Marshall, her children Brenda (Roy) Lemmon, Mike Ducheneaux, Eagle Butte, Marla (Kevin) Keckler, Ridgeview, Brice Peterson, Case Grande, AZ, her sister, Nita (Jim) Gable, Buford, GA, her sisters-in-law Candy Jewett, Mary Jewett, White Horse, and her grandchildren, Tyler Peterson, Ashley Peterson, Spencer Peterson, Case Grande, AZ, Parker Peterson, Eagle Butte, Dylan Lemmon, Christopher and Julianne Peterson, Eagle Butte, SD, Merissa Ducheneaux, Custer, SD and her numerous great grand-children, nieces and nephews.

Greeting her in the spirit world will be her son Matt Ducheneaux, her daughter Allison Peterson, a granddaughter, Jaime Marie Ducheneaux, her parents, her siblings, Corine Mendoza, Ramona Jewett, Louie Jewett, Iyonne Garreau, Albert (Pinky) Jewett, Arthur (Bluie) Jewett, Orlin Jewett, and Keith Jewett and step-son Grant Marshall.
