Funeral services for Judy Lynn Thompson age 53 of Swift Bird will be 11:00 AM Friday, September 27, 2013 at St. John's Episcopal Church in Eagle Butte. Burial will be in the Emmanuel Episcopal Cemetery in White Horse under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services at the church. Judy passed away Saturday September 21, 2013 at Eagle Butte IHS Hospital in Eagle Butte.
Judy Lynn Thompson was born on June 15, 1960 in Eagle Butte to Louis D. Thompson and Mazie A. (His Horse Is Fast) Thompson. Growing up she lived on a ranch in Armstrong County and later lived in the dormitories while attending grade school and high school.
In earlier years she learned to live very self sufficiently. She loved to hunt, fish and bake and sold the fruits of her labor for all to enjoy. She later became employed with the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe working for the Enrollments, Revenue and T.E.R.O. offices.
She loved animals, gardening and growing plants, sewing, playing scrabble and computer pool, bingo and in her younger years, bowling and horseshoe. She was a very meticulous person who had a place for everything and everything in its place.
Survivors include her life mate, Michael D. Four Bear, Swiftbird; One son Thomas M. McCurdy, Spokane WA; four daughters, Tera L. Dupris, Pierre, Alyssa R. Four Bear, Danielle L. Four Bear and Michaela M. Four Bear, all of Swiftbird; two grandchildren, Ashleigh I. McCurdy, Spokane WA, and Kinsley M. Lafferty, Swiftbird. Brothers are Shane Thompson (Calli), William Frazier, Helbent Frazier (Sarah), Lloyd Thompson (Carolyn), Alex Thompson, Frank Thompson (Bunny Sue) and Francis "Punch" Thompson (Linda). Sisters are Iva Jean Carter (Mike), Bernadette Halfred (Terry), Verlyn Fasthorse, Arlene Thompson (Tom), Beatrice Gabe (Chaz) and Delilah Tiger.
Preceding her in death are her parents Louis D. Thompson and Mazie A. (His Horse Is Fast) Thompson. Brothers Eldred Fasthorse, Alvin Thompson, Gilford Thompson, Ralph Thompson, Louis Thompson Jr., and Charlie Thompson. Sisters Mary Morgan, Ernestine Frank and Annabelle Morgan.
Visitation will be 10 to 11 a.m. Friday Sept. 27, 2013 prior to services.
Services will be 11 a.m. on Friday Sept 27, 2013 at the Episcopal Church with Sister Addie Morris officiating. Burial will be at the White Horse cemetery in White Horse.
Pallbearers will be Loren Morgan, Lonnie Halfred, Dustin (Bud) Halfred, Jim Picotte, Bryson Dupris, Jeremy Ferguson, Donnie Bettelyoun and Justin Seurer.
