Funeral arrangements for Joyce Rush, age 75, of Fort Yates will be Wednesday, May 26, 2010 with a rosary service at 7:00 pm at Kesling Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 1-7 pm on Wednesday. Joyce passed away Friday, May 21, 2010 in Fort Yates
Joyce A. Rush was born April 25, 1935 in Los Angeles, CA to William Village Center and Margaret Wells. She graduated from Fort Yates High School. From there she met and
married LeRoy Archambault, were they raised 9 children together. Joyce received a nursing certificate at the United Tribes College.
She worked as a matron at the Fort Yates Dormitory and the Indian Health Service at the Fort Yates Hospital; were she met and married Elmer Rush. Joyce retired from IHS after many years of service.
Joyce had many hobbies which included knitting, crocheting, sewing blankets, shawl making, baking, and cooking. She enjoyed reading
Danielle Steele novels, doing crossword puzzles, and listening to gospel music. Joyce liked to attend gospel revivals and was very devoted in her Christian faith. She also liked to go to the casino. Joyce was a loving, caring, thoughtful, generous, kind woman who always had a bright smile, high spirit, and warm heart.
After a brave battle with cancer, having had been diagnosed in February of this year, Joyce went to meet her Lord on May 21, 2010. She was very strong willed until the end of her battle with cancer.
She is survived by four daughters, Barbara Archambault, Phoebe Silk, Kaye Archambault, and Pamela Archambault; four sons, Michael
Archambault, Rocky Archambault, Lloyd Archambault, and Billy
Archambault; three brothers, Marvin Centre of Bishop, CA, half brothers Billy Village Center and Johny Village Center; six half sisters, Tina Hertel, Kathy Village Center, Linda Village Center, Marlene McLaughlin, Toni Village Center, and Erma Annis, 31 grandchildren, and a special and dear friend Ruby Shoestring.
Joyce is preceded in death by her parents William Village Center and Margaret Wells, husbands Elmer Rush and LeRoy Archambault, son Ira J. Archambault, and niece Stephanie Village Center.
