Funeral services for Josephine White Mountain, 81 of McLaughlin, will be Friday, at 1:00 p.m. CT at Messiah Congregational Church rural Little Eagle. Burial will be in the Messiah Cemetery under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. Visitation will be Thursday from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. CT at Messiah Congregational Church. Josephine died Monday, May 24, 2010 at the Golden Living Center.

Josephine White Mountain was born March 24, 1929 in Bullhead, SD to Willis and Lucy (Crazy Hawk) White Mountain. She attended the Pierre Indian School through the 8th grade. Josephine worked as a waitress in Rapid City, before moving back to Little Eagle and McLaughlin. She was a Nutrition Cook and was a foster parent. She was the third of ten children.

Josephine enjoyed going to church, pow-wow's, and just cruising around. She also enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her children; Charlotte White Mountain, Jerrilyn White Mountain, Robert Lee White Mountain, Sr. all of McLaughlin, Timothy Mountain of Rapid City, Richard Dean Mountain of Dobois, WY, Andrew James White Mountain, Sr. of Mandan, ND, 3 brothers Anthony White Mountain, Sr. Bernard Adrian Mountain, Sr., Joseph White Mountain, Sr. all of McLaughlin, and 24 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, and 19 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 1 daughter, 2 sons, 4 brothers, and 3 sisters.

Casketbearers will be Shawn White Mountain, Gabriel White Face, Delbert Chasing Hawk, Jason Chasing Hawk, Patric White Mountain, Robert White Mountain, Jr., Derek (Jessie) Wiest, Julian Defender, John Foster, J.T. White Mountain, Jesse Alkire
