Joseph (Joe) Benedict Raba was born March 21, 1928 in rural Walworth County to the proud parents of John and Julie (Bertha) Raba. Joe had nine siblings of the six boys in his family he is the only one who had any children.

Joe was a cattle rancher most of his life.

He met Darlene Goehring at the Moose club in Mobridge and they were married after a two-month courtship on February 22, 1974. After getting married Joe continued to be a cattle rancher. The calves he raised were usually some of the most sought after and he received top dollar when selling them.

A daughter Julie was born 9 months later. Julie lives in Rapid city, SD. A son James was born 15 months after his sister. James married Liberty Moya Raba and they have a 1-year-old son, John Eugenius Eli Moya Raba and live in Aberdeen.

Joe's motto was "fix junk with junk" If he did not know how to fix something he would often dream of a solution. We use to joke with him that he was working even in his sleep.

Joe was a dedicated husband and father, and he was always willing to lend a hand to others. Joe retired from ranching after the blizzard of 1996, he lived in Selby for 20 years before going to the nursing home 2 ½ years ago.

Joe was a active lifetime member of the St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Selby. Joe entered into heavenly glory Dec. 26 th , 2018.
