Visitation for Joseph Archambault age 61 of McLaughlin will begin at 5:00 PM to Midnight, Thursday, December 12, 2019 at Bear Soldier Blue Gym, McLaughlin. Family and friends are asked to meet at Kesling Funeral Home at 4:00 PM to follow. Interment will be 2:00 PM MT at the Black Hills National Cemetery under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. Joseph passed away Wednesday, December 4, 2019 at his home in McLaughlin.

Joseph Paul Archambault was born April 28, 1958 in Fort Yates, ND to Oscar and Sophie (Running Hawk) Archambault. Joe grew up in Little Eagle, SD. He attended grade school at Little Eagle Day school and McLaughlin Elementary school. Joe attended High School in McLaughlin, SD and graduated in 1977. After high school Joe attended Spearfish College with a career goal of becoming a radio sports commentator.   Joe enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1978 and served at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, TX. He was honorably discharged in 1982.

In his lifetime, Joseph met Anna Shoots the Enemy and to this relationship two children were born, a son, George Shoots the Enemy and a daughter, Angie Shoots the Enemy. Joseph was employed with Columbe Inc in Aberdeen, SD, Standing Rock Sioux Tribe Food Distribution Program, Fort Yates, ND. Joseph resided in Denver, CO for a period of time then returned home to Standing Rock. Joseph lived and enjoyed the remainder of his life at home in McLaughlin, SD.

Joseph enjoyed his life to the fullest, he loved the outdoors, he enjoyed traveling with family and was always willing to tag along for road trips to any destination. Joseph enjoyed his quiet simple life in the company of friends and family. During Football season he never missed a game of watching his beloved Minnesota Vikings. He was also an avid McLaughlin (Midgets) Mustangs basketball fan. He never missed the opportunity to sing Happy Birthday to family members. Joe also called and visited with his sisters if not daily, every other day, just to chat and ended with "I love you".

Joseph is survived by his children, George Shoots the Enemy of Bismarck, ND and Angie Shoots the Enemy of Fort Yates, ND. He is also survived by his sisters, Marjorie Archambault, Barbara (Happy) Archambault, Donna (Raymond) Archambault-Fire Cloud of McLaughlin, SD; Phyllis Archambault of Bullhead, SD. Joseph is also survived by many nephews, nieces and grandchildren too numerous to name. He has many other Archambault/ Running Hawk relatives too numerous to name and we did not want to forget anyone.

Joseph was preceded in death by his mother and father, Oscar and Sophie (Running Hawk) Archambault, brothers- Wayne, Everett and Allen Archambault, Fenton Little Dog; Niece – Georgia Weasel; Nephews – George Weasel Jr., James (Bubba) Giroux and Michael Iron. Two grandchildren, Oscar J. Archambault and Michael Iron Jr.
