Joel Ellis Fischer, 69, passed away peacefully on July 7, 2023, at the Mobridge Regional Hospital in Mobridge.
Joel was born June 13, 1954 to Frank and Alice (Fraase) Fischer. He was the oldest of the four Fischer kids. He got his start in the gas station business at a young age by working with his dad at Frank's Standard. He continued working there until he graduated from Carson High School in 1973.
In 1975, he married Margaret (Peggy) Doll and started trucking for Rafteseth Trucking in Elgin, North Dakota. After that adventure, he started working at Vern's Gas Station until they moved to Dickinson, North Dakota where he worked for Clay's Gas Station for 6 years and from there, he started working for the Sweetheart Bread Company and continued working for them when they moved to Mobridge. After retiring from the Sweetheart Bread Company, he worked for Valley Motors until he retired.
In Joel's spare time he liked to go hunting, fishing, and bowling.
Joel is preceded in death by his father, mother, and grandson, Alex Fischer.
Joel is survived by his sons, Travis (Cassie) of Watertown, Josh, Aaron (Lesley) Fischer of Mobridge and daughter, Nikki (Jordon) Everding of Sioux Falls, as well as four grandchildren, Allison and Caleb Fischer and Ella and Aida Everding. Also surviving are his siblings; Noel, Ronald and wife Julie Fischer, sister; Karen (Gregory) Scholes. Nephews; Jared (Sarah) Fischer, Otis Scholes, niece; Kayla (Jacob) Tatro and his former wife Peggy Fischer.
Per Joel's request, no funeral services will be held, but will have a Visitation and Sharing of Memories at the Kesling Funeral Home Chapel in Mobridge, SD from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM on Thursday, July, 13, 2023.
After cremation, he will be buried at the Carson Community Cemetery, Carson North Dakota at a later date.
